Many people are confused by what they read online and hear in the news, but here is what everyone
needs to know: The Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, the Marketplace, or
Healthcare.gov, has health insurance plans available statewide, and most people qualify for discounts to
make those plans more affordable. The enrollment period for 2018 coverage runs November 1 ‐
December 15, 2017.
Federal Funding for Navigator Enrollment Services Cut 42% Open Enrollment November 1-December 15

Covering Wisconsin (CWI), the state’s largest federally-certified and state-licensed Navigator agency, received notice today that its federal support for outreach and enrollment services is reduced by over 42%. This amounts to a loss of $422,763 for educating Wisconsin residents this coming year about health insurance coverage, assisting them with enrollment, and supporting their post-enrollment needs.
Deadline to Sign Up for Obamacare is January 31

MILWAUKEE – With a new president taking office this week, and an uncertain road ahead for the Affordable Care Act, more consumers are signing up for health care coverage in 2017. This week’s enrollment snapshot from the federal government showed that more than 91,000 Milwaukee area residents have signed up in the health insurance Marketplace so far - 9,000 more enrollees compared to the same time last year.
Health Coverage is Still Available through the Marketplace

While there has been much talk about the Affordable Care Act – also known as Obamacare – by
political leaders and in the news recently, it is important to know that nothing yet has changed. The
Health Insurance Marketplace is still available and the deadline to sign up for coverage for this year
is January 31st. Enrollment provides coverage for 2017, beginning March 1st.
Extraordinary Demands Means Extended Deadline for Marketplace Enrollment

MADISON – If you still are looking for health insurance coverage to begin on January 1st of next year, you may be in luck.
Today the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced they are extending the deadline to apply for health insurance through the Marketplace. The new deadline is December 19. The original deadline has been extended given the extraordinary demand by the public to apply for coverage.

The public has a new way to find local help with enrolling in or renewing a health insurance plan. The new Wisconsin Enrollment Connector Tool lists health insurance enrollment assistance locations and appointment options convenient to areas throughout the state. Wisconsin residents can access the tool either by calling 2-1-1, where a representative can make an appointment through the Tool, or by going online to coveringwi.org to locate their closest enrollment site and booking a time to meet with a local enrollment assister.
